In compliance with the derivates of the Honourable Supreme Court of India, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, holds the All India Pre-Medical/ Dental Entrance Test for the top 15% merit positions in the colleges of India as specified in the directive of the court and is governed by the rules and regulations, specified by the ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India from time to time.

There are also various State Government Universities, Colleges and Institutions voluntarily participating in the All India Pre-Medical entrance test for using its merit list for admission in their respective Universities, Colleges and Institutions.

CBSE takes the responsibility of conducting the entrance examination then declaring the results and providing merit list to the DGHS and other participating State Universities, Colleges and Institutions.

Then the counselling for successful candidates under 15% All India Quota seats is conducted by the DGHS. Other participating States Universities, Colleges and Institutions conduct their own counselling sessions for admissions as per the notifications issued separately by the authorities concerned.
