India's capital of education Delhi
Delhi being India’s Capital, is also known as capital of learning because of its large number of top- quality academic institutions and coaching centres.
The national capital seems to come handy for small town IAS aspirants for greater access and a variety of options. In 2012, of all states, maximum Civil Services Exam (CSE) takers were from Delhi, rising up to 432 compared to UP and Maharashtra with 375 and 302 respectively.
Delhi School Education- Delhi has a better compliance compared to other states. It means if a student goes to school or college, then he/she will get exposed to proper classes both at theoretical and practical level.
Delhi’s literacy rate increased from 61.53% in 1981 to 75.30% in 1991 to 81.66% in 2001 and 86.34% in 2011. The state offers good learning exposure at primary, secondary and higher education level. It has a healthy mix of schools affiliated to different education boards such as CBSE, ICSE and few schools that follow IB curriculum. Of the total 5043 schools, 2666 are government and 2377 private schools, indicating a significant role played by the private sector.
Higher Education in Delhi- With 2 major universities, Delhi University (DU) and JNU attract research scholars from across the country. There are 5 institutes of national importance, 5 central universities, 5 state universities, 10 deemed universities, 24 engineering institutes, 8 medical and 38 management colleges in Delhi. There are about 160 colleges comprising 83 DU colleges and 77 colleges affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIP).
