Oberoi Group of Hotels
The Oberoi Group was founded in 1934, operates 28 hotels across 5 countries, one Nile Cruiser and one Backwater Vessel in Kerala state under the luxury 'Oberoi’ and five-star ‘Trident' brands. The Oberoi Group of Hotels is premier luxury group and was founded by the late Mohan Singh Oberoi, who started his career in the 1920s as a lowly clerk at the Cecil Hotel in Shimla (currently owned by oberoi only). He borrowed money from relatives and clubbed all of his savings to purchase his own hotel, a modest venture which laid the foundation of a hotel empire that now operates in Asia, Africa and the Indian Ocean. The Oberoi properties comprise fully half of top Indian selections. The Group is also engaged in airport restaurants, flight catering, car rentals, travel and tour services, project management and private air charters.
Trident hotels are 5 star hotels that have built up a reputation for excellence and are acknowledged for offering quality service and value for money. These are located in Mumbai at Bandra Kurla and Nariman Point, Gurgaon, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Kochi, Jaipur, Agra and Udaipur. The Oberoi Group also operates a Trident hotel in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah. Recognizing the importance of quality training in hospitality industry, in 1966, the Group established The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development (OCLD) in New Delhi. Today, OCLD is considered amongst the best in Asia with around 100 students graduating each year.
